At this weekend’s Canadian Home Workshop Show, there’s something for you, your child and the novice woodworker accompanying you. But, you have to be quick.

Dimar Canada is giving away free blades at the show, but only to the first 150 people who show up to the Dimar booth (#337) on a given day. And, you need a coupon. The blade is a 7 1/4″ Dimar Woodpecker. It has 24 carbide teeth and is good for general framing or decking. It will rip soft- and hardwood, plywood, hardboard and OSB.

Now, after you’ve scrambled for your blade, it’s time to take your child to the Kids’ Woodworking area. This year, the project is a desk shelf. Little builders will get to use drillpresses, scrollsaws, drills and stationary sanders. The project is sure to give them a taste for the sawdusty arts.

Let’s say you have your less-woodworky partner along. It’s now his or her chance to build something in the Woodworking 101 area. The project is a very cool gumball machine. The tools used to make the project are the mitre saw, drillpress and brad nailer.

If you don’t have tickets yet, go here for a $3 discount off the price of admission.

See you at the show.
