Mechanical Pencil
You can live your whole woodworking life using regular wooden pencils, but a mechanical pencil is better. You get bigger, stronger lead, and good models come with an accurate sharpener you can use on the fly without having to walk to a bench-mounted sharpener. Keep an assortment of lead hardnesses on hand, depending on the kind of marking you’re doing.
