Photo gallery: 14 must-have tools
Whether you're dropping hints or treating yourself, here is Canadian Home Workshop's 2011 tool roundup
Why It's Hot: Nailing without lugging a hose and compressor
Both the Bostitch and Senco have cut the cord: they both offer cordless 15-gauge nailers (GFN1564K and FN65DA, respectively). However, both approach going cordless in different ways. The Bostitch runs on a 3.6-volt Li-ion battery and a replaceable fuel cell.
Senco’s tool has an 18-volt Li-ion battery and a permanent tank of compressed nitrogen. Either tool will have you sinking nails in your trim or cabinetry with ease. (Bostitch $350, bostitch.com; Senco $665, senco.com)
